The author, a wine-grape grower in Sonoma County, California, in the early years of the wine boom, and his co-author, photographer Nick Pavloff, set out to describe a full year's farming in a vineyard. From vine pruning to grape harvest in 1980, the words and beautiful field photographs show what goes into "a good year for wine."
